NCSH FAQs

Why should I have my surgery performed at North Carolina Specialty Hospital rather than a traditional hospital? A physician-owned medical facility such as North Carolina Specialty Hospital has the means to provide its patients with the kind of specialized care that may not be available in other hospitals. North Carolina Specialty Hospital has tailored its facility and resources to best fit the needs of the patients it serves. Those who are treated at North Carolina Specialty Hospital may enjoy relatively greater comfort and convenience and that often means shorter patient stays and higher surgery success rates.

Preadmission Total Joint Class

NCSH offers a Preadmission Total Joint Class twice a month for prospective total hip and total knee replacement patients and their families. The class is presented by Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Social Work in an effort to prepare patients for their hospital stay and post hospital recovery. We try to take patients through their hospital stay, day by day, explaining pain control methods, blood clot prevention, physical therapy exercises, and discharge planning. It is felt that patients who attend the class are better prepared mentally, emotionally, and physically for their hospital stay and rehabilitation.
