Visitor Restrictions

UPDATED 1/24/2020

Effective Monday, December 30, 2019 Visitor Restrictions Due to Influenza

In the past several weeks there has been a rise in the number of influenza cases within our community and state. Due to the increase in influenza within our community North Carolina Specialty Hospital is implementing visitor restrictions.
The safety and well-being of our patients, visitors, and staff is our highest priority at North Carolina Specialty Hospital. We have taken several important steps to help prevent the spread of the flu in our hospital. An example is that we require our staff and providers be vaccinated against the flu annually to ensure everyone’s safety during the flu season. We realize the following temporary restrictions may result in some inconvenience to family members and other visitors. We appreciate your understanding and support.
Together, we can prevent the spread of the flu in our Hospital and Wound Care Clinic this season.

Please Follow These Restrictions:

• Limit visitors to two adults per patient at any one time. Limiting the number of visitors per patient will help control the spread of the illness.
• Children are not allowed on hospital visits. Since children are more likely to get sick and spread the flu, our staff will not allow children under 12 to visit patients.
• Wash your hands often. Look for hand hygiene stations around the hospital. Please remember to clean your hands when entering and leaving the hospital either by washing with soap or rubbing your hands together with hand sanitizer.
• Do not visit the hospital if you have flu-like symptoms. Signs of the flu include fever, cough, sneezing, runny nose or sore throat and body aches.
• Get the flu vaccine if you haven’t done so already. Receiving this simple shot can help increase your chances of staying healthy and avoid getting others sick. In case you forget some of these steps, don’t worry—our staff will be giving you gentle reminders to make sure we are all doing what we can to keep everyone as healthy as possible. If you have questions, feel free to ask any member of your healthcare team.

Together, we can prevent the spread of the flu in our hospitals this season. Thanks, again, for your support and understanding.
