Dr. Kathryn M. Baerman

Specializing in comprehensive breast cancer care, board-certified surgeon, Dr. Kathryn M. Baerman also performs abdominal, endocrine, and hernia surgeries. Her dedicated, compassionate, and patient-centered approach has helped Dr. Baerman receive several honors, including recognition as Patients’ Choice physician (2013).

She has also drawn upon her extensive training and experience to publish multiple journal articles, as well as participating in presentations at various medical symposia.

Education Background, Expertise, and Services

Dr. Baerman attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she obtained her undergraduate, graduate, and medical degrees. She completed her residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals before going on to earn an Oncology Research Fellowship through the Advanced Surgical Breast Oncology Training Program. During medical school, Dr. Baerman was an administrative chief resident and a distinguished medical scholar.

As a result of her extensive educational background and experience, Dr. Baerman is able to address a number of GI and endocrine conditions, in addition to different types of hernias, which include:

  • Diseases of the gallbladder, small bowel, appendix, and large bowel
  • Diseases of the adrenal, parathyroid, and thyroid glands
  • Inguinal, femoral, ventral/incisional, and other hernias

Her comprehensive knowledge, educational background, and fellowship-training in advanced and minimally-invasive surgical procedures, enables Dr. Baerman to provide her patients with the following surgical specialties.
