Dr. Daniel Carpenter’s extensive training and expertise in the shoulder, elbow and arm, and general orthopedics enables him to diagnose and treat a variety of upper extremity conditions. He provides advanced conservative and surgical approaches to address injuries and disorders ranging from tennis elbow and shoulder joint dislocations to rotator cuff tendon tears, fractures, and more. His ultimate goal is to safely return patients back to their active lifestyles, including athletes and sports enthusiasts.
Dr. Carpenter obtained both his undergraduate and medical school degrees at Louisiana State University. Following, he completed a five-year residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of North Carolina. During his residency, Dr. Carpenter received the resident of the year and chief resident teaching awards.
Post-residency, Dr. Carpenter received a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. Here, he mentored under renowned national and global leaders in upper extremity surgery.
Dr. Carpenter now practices in North Carolina where he continues to remain active in orthopedic research. He has written and contributed to multiple publications and book chapters. He holds professional memberships with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES).
