Dr. R. Desai
Dr. Ronak Desai provides novel approach for the treatment of back and neck conditions by evaluating the issue in the context of global spinal alignment. He is a graduate of Rush University in Chicago, where he obtained both his Medical Degree (M.D.) as well as a Masters of Science (M.S.) in Cellular Biology. Dr. Desai has performed extensive research regarding how the body interacts with the various metal implants used in Orthopaedic and Spine surgery along with developing strategies to identify patients with metal sensitivity/allergies.
Dr. Desai completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University. He then completed his fellowship in Spine surgery in Houston, TX. He trained under both orthopaedic spine and neurosurgeons. In Houston, he trained at Houston Methodist Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center. During his fellowship he was instructed in both surgical and non-operative management of degenerative spinal conditions, complex spinal deformity and spinal tumor surgery.
Dr. Desai has maintained a strong interest in advancing the field of spine surgery throughout his career. He has authored multiple articles on various spine health. He presented his research at multiple meetings and is currently an active member of North American Spine Society (NASS), American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and AOSpine.
Dr. Desai always strives to help patients achieve optimal function and pain relief. His philosophy is patient centric, which involves educating patients about their spine health and effective strategies in treating their symptoms. His goal is to have the patient become an active participant in their health and decision making. His goals are always to provide the least invasive options, while fully addressing the spine associated pain generators.
Simply put, Dr. Desai’s philosophy is “if I wouldn’t recommend it for my family, then I wouldn’t recommend it for my patients.”
