Dr. Rutherford grew up in Raleigh, NC and graduated from the University of North Carolina and the Medical College of Georgia. He completed residency training at Duke University Medical Center and is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement. Dr. Rutherford completed fellowship training at a high volume, nationally recognized joint replacement center in Denver, Colorado prior to practicing in Asheville, NC.
Dr. Rutherford tailors his approach to the individual patient. Whether the treatment is surgical or not, his goal is to select the best approach for each patient’s particular condition and goals. He offers partial and total knee replacements, as well as robotic assisted surgery and the direct anterior approach to the hip. Dr. Rutherford’s goal is to treat each patient as he would a member of his own family.
