Dr. Serlo

Dr. Serlo earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan and obtained his dental degree from the University of Florida Doctor of Medical Dentistry program. Upon receiving his dental degree, Dr. Serlo and his family moved to North Carolina to complete his residency training program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UNC – Chapel Hill.

During his training he received his medical degree from The University of North Carolina School of Medicine and completed a General Surgery internship. Dr. Serlo’s training has provided him with experience in all facets of oral and maxillofacial surgery, enabling him to provide comprehensive surgical care. His interests include orthognathic surgery, pathology, bone grafting, dental implants and facial trauma. Dr. Serlo provides peer review of scientific manuscripts for an international journal and serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UNC – Chapel Hill. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Serlo is active in the dental and medical communities through memberships in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, American Medical Association, and the local dental societies of Durham, Orange, Chatham and Lee counties. Dr. Serlo is also active in the North Carolina Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Society in which he serves as the OMSPAC chair.

Dr. Serlo provides patient care in all three office locations and is on staff at Durham Regional Hospital, North Carolina Specialty Hospital and Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center.
