Dr. Shah

Ami A. Shah, M.D. is a board-certified specialist in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery.  She specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the forehead, mid-face, eyelids, and eye socket. She has a special interest in aesthetic medicine. Dr. Shah’s clinical and surgical interests also include Mohs reconstruction after Mohs surgery and thyroid eye disease.

Dr. Shah is a specialist in the medical and surgical management of a broad spectrum of eyelid and eye socket disorders including: eyelid cancers, trauma, tearing disorders, eyelid droop, eye socket tumors, infections, and inflammations. She treats both adults and children. In addition, she performs aesthetic surgery including brow and eyelid lifts. She also specializes in non-surgical cosmetic enhancements with botulinum toxin and dermal fillers.

Dr. Shah was accepted to the University of Alabama school of medicine as a high school graduate in a special, accelerated early medical school acceptance program. She earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama Medical School in 2007 as the youngest physician in her class. After completing her eye surgery residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN, she continued her education in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, where she was also a clinical instructor.

In the two years she has lived in the Raleigh/Durham area, Dr. Shah has been an invited guest lecturer locally, regionally, and at the state level on various topics pertaining to her field.

In her spare time, Dr. Shah enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
