As the former team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and several high school and university teams, Dr. Karl F. Bowman is well versed in addressing a variety of orthopedic conditions and injuries. Specializing in sports medicine and shoulder care, Dr. Bowman routinely diagnoses and treats anything from shoulder dislocations and rotator cuff tendon tears to ACL and meniscus tears. His ultimate goal is to help his patients reduce pain, restore range-of-motion, and return to their daily activities.
After completing his undergraduate and medical school training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Bowman completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Michigan. During his senior year, he served as chief resident before going on to earn his fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery (at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Sports Medicine).
As previously mentioned, Dr. Bowman was the team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers, University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Robert Morris University, Pittsburgh Passion, University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, the Pittsburgh marathon, and multiple high schools.
Authoring upwards of 17 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Bowman has also contributed to eight book chapters and has participated in 40 national, regional, and local presentations.
