As one of the few surgeons in the Triangle Area that is fellowship-trained in two orthopedic subspecialties, Dr. Paul Kerner is able to address a variety of foot and ankle and sports medicine conditions and injuries, including performing both lower and upper extremity surgery.
His experience includes time served as the team physician for the USA Men’s U-19 National Lacrosse Team, and as an orthopedic consultant to Campbell University and The Durham Bulls. He also routinely diagnosed and treated players in his role as the past team physician for several Wake County High Schools.
Dr. Kerner completed his residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. Following, he earned a comprehensive Sports Medicine/Knee and Shoulder Reconstruction Fellowship at the Insall Scott Kelly® (ISK) Institute in New York. At ISK, he trained under and assisted the team physicians for the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, and New York Liberty.
Dr. Kerner began his career practicing in the Capital District of Upstate New York. From there, he went on to earn a Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Here, Dr. Kerner acquired experience in reconstructive, traumatic, and sports injuries to the foot and ankle.
