Dr. Matthew Popa, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacements, offering care at the Clayton and Smithfield offices as part of the knee and hip team. With fellowship training in adult total joint reconstruction, he focuses on joint replacements and revisions, using a patient-centered approach that combines medical treatment with lifestyle and nutritional guidance to enhance outcomes.
Dr. Popa earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and completed his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He trained in orthopedic surgery at Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners and completed a fellowship in joint reconstruction at University Hospitals Case Medical Center.
Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Popa treats a variety of orthopedic conditions, including joint degeneration, fractures, trauma, and sports injuries. His expertise extends to procedures like arthroscopy and fracture repair.
Outside of work, Dr. Popa enjoys spending time with his wife and five children and stays active through soccer and F3 fitness group activities.
