Dr. Lucas Romine

Dr. Lucas Romine is a board-certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon at EmergeOrtho. He is passionate about tending to his patients from start to finish and is known for his expertise in minimally invasive and robotic assisted orthopedic surgical procedures. His many glowing patient testimonials reflect his professional philosophy of treating every patient as if they were one of his own family members.

Education and Expertise

While maintaining a full athletic scholarship for collegiate basketball, Dr. Romine completed his undergraduate coursework as an Academic All-American. He excelled in medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center before completing Orthopedic Surgery residency at the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Romine has presented cutting edge research at national and international orthopedic conferences and has received several awards throughout his career. Some of his lecture venues include the European Federation of Orthopedic and Traumatology in Berlin, Germany, and the Chinese Orthopedic Association Congress in Beijing, China.

At North Carolina Specialty Hospital, Dr. Romine regularly performs the following procedures:

  • Robotic partial knee replacement
  • Robotic total knee replacement
  • Shoulder joint replacement with custom 3 dimensional planning
  • Robotic hip replacement
  • Minimally invasive shoulder surgery
  • Surgical repair of broken bones and torn tendons or ligaments
Community Connections

Before joining EmergeOrtho, Dr. Romine served as a faculty in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. While he was there, he accumulated valuable experience in new, innovative surgical techniques for treating complex pathology in the shoulder and elbow including shoulder replacement. He also served as a team physician for the Baltimore Orioles, providing medical care for elite Major League Baseball players.
