The common misconception with arthritis is that only older people are affected by it. Nearly 300,00 children in America have been diagnosed with juvenile arthritis.
JIA may include a variety of symptoms, such as muscle and soft tissue tightening, bone erosion, joint misalignment and changes in growth patterns. Not all children have the same symptoms. Most often symptoms will change from day to day.
Diagnosis will include a physical exam, lab testing, review of medical history and a close watch on symptoms for at least 6 weeks to six months.
