Chief Nursing Officer

Nakija Jones

As the current Chief Nursing Officer, Nakija coordinates nursing functions at the executive level, develops hospital-wide patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how patient’s nursing care needs or the needs of patient populations receiving nursing care, treatment, and services, are assessed, evaluated, and met. She collaborates with the Governing Body, Executive Team, Medical Staff, and Clinical Leaders in the hospital’s decision-making structure and processes. In her role she functions to provide effective and coordinated leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. She also has the responsibility to ensure the facility follows federal, state, and local policies and regulations.

Nakija obtained her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from the University of Lynchburg (formally Lynchburg College) in 2000. She then went on to further her education at Strayer University and obtained her Master of Education degree, with a concentration in Education Management, in 2007. Nakija has over 20 years of nursing and healthcare related experience and has been with NCSH since 2003 in a variety of roles; from bedside nursing to leading and directing quality management and utilization review activities for the facility, in addition to overseeing the Case Management program.
